The homepage of the first term was made by exertion of the member, Mr. Hideo Irie, in 1996. He was good at computer technology, and was enjoying fly-fishing in a mountain stream. It is really regretful to be passed away in 1999 too yung.
It can be told to development of old Japan Fly Fishers that it is because there was Mr. Irie's big power. Here -- the great achievements of him -- it should leave The page of

Send the fish those picture was taken by mountain stream walk, scenery, and friends' photograph by the data of JPEG form, and an album is made on Web. If the work included in mind is found, please cast your vote freely. We want to give a prize from JFF to the work which became the annual top by the sum total of your vote and the last vote performed in an annual meeting (JFF general meeting). All serve as a contest made participation those who looked at this page. Please feel free to participate. The Japan Fly Fishers Party of Three Fly Fishers
In middle of the 1970s, young men visited in Mr. Kazuhiro Ashizawa's house who introduced the U.S. "quiet sport" to Japan and were hotly talking about "nature of Japan" and others.
Then, Kazuhiro Ashizawa, Morio Sato, and Ken-ichi Murota launched "The Japan Fly Fishers Party of Three Fly Fishers" to talk more with the friends who love fly fishing.
After that, the friends of "The Japan Fly Fishers" increased all over the country. "The Japan Fly Fishers" is further developed as an organization of game fishing which put preservation of natural environment of Japan, and raised the friendship of fly fishers.
Although Kazuhiro Ashizawa, and Ken-ichi Murota passed away, the soul is greatly inherited by "The Japan Fly Fishers".Kazuhiro Ashizawa, Morio Sato, and Ken-ichi Murota are the founders of "The Japan Fly Fishers".

Management of "The Japan Fly Fishers" is performed by the headquaters who have participated in the staff as a volunteer.
Moreover, the outdoor meeting held all over the country is performed by cooperation of the contact persons well versed in the area.

The Japan Fly Fishers (JFF) was founded in 1981, and is the organization of members love fly fishing. Many of members in JFF are famous and experienced fly fishers who you may know.
While JFF is a friendship organization, it is also the organization that tackles environmental preservation.
And JFF introduce the pleasure of fly fishing and fly fishing in Japan to the world via official site of the Internet, is sending in English and in Japanese.
JFF has been tackled planting trout eggs with the Whitlock Vibert Box (WVB) for a long time, helped by Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) which is an American fly fishing organization. JFF has also published the manual for planting trout eggs and greatly recommends "planting trout eggs". Moreover, JFF is supporting other environmental preservation activities etc.
Since 1997, JFF has been supporting the "Kazuhiro Ashizawa scholarship fund" foundation of Mr. Kazuhiro Ashizawa who already passed away. And the fund has presented the scholarship to the foreign students from Japan who study natural science at the university in Montana in the United States.
The latest natural environment is not good, as you know. Think with us about what we can do, and speak and act. You can probably do something with us that you can not do by yourself. There are friends of JFF in all parts of Japan...

The members of JFF will......
-As for the "annual meeting" which is the general meeting held on Sunday of February in Tokyo, fly fishers gather for a year from the whole country. There is also a guest from overseas and you can meet fly fishers which had the name known widely. A shop, a maker, and a tour company open a shop.
-The "Riverside meeting" held during a season 7-8 times in different areas have been held in areas, such as Hokkaido, Iwate, Fukushima, Tochigi, Tokyo, Yamanashi, Gifu, Shikoku, Kyushu, etc. You can stay at a pension or a hotel, and actually enjoy fly fishing in a river or a lake, and camping, and members' friendship can be warmed.
-You can receive the report magazine "TIGHTLINES" published 4 times per year. They have the high quality contents of the preservation version included the reports of a meeting, introduction of the flies tied by members, and edited as 16 pages of formal size(A4) 1 color offset. And the chance to contribute is positively given to all the members.
-The newest information is sent from headquarters via the news letter "GAZETTE" published timely.
-In the homepage prepared only for members, the conversation of the members in BBS and the purchase of the goods for members are possible.
-Only for member's tackle made from special, wears, emblems, badges, stickers, etc. are prepared.
-Contacts to contact persons all over the country, and the information on the newest area can be acquired.
-A fee is year package delivery of 8,000 yen, and is used for management of a meeting, issue of a report, connection, etc. That is, JFF is managed by the fee and contribution which members supply. And headquarters and contact persons are perfectly volunteers. Edit work, planting, management, a plan of a meeting, etc.. If you want to do in some cases, you can do it always. Annual Meeting (General meeting)
"Annual Meeting" is held in Tokyo in every February when trouts begin to move actively.
Famous fly fisher's lectures, veteran member's research presentation, etc. are given for the members who gathered from the whole country.
The hall warms up to the demonstration of the new product by people of the industry related to fly fishing, attraction of a district event, the auction of an offer prize, etc.Out Door Meeting
The outdoor meeting many in various places from the Kinugawa meeting of still cold early spring to the Tono meeting in the season end of fall with beautiful fall leaves and the Oshino meeting of December are held by The Japan Fly Fishers.
School/Clinic
Various school and Clinic are also held in The Japan Fly Fishers.
It replies to your questions about flyfishing, and is helpful to improveing your skill on flyfishing.

-Tying school
It takes place on the third Tuesdays every month by deciding a theme each time in a JFF secretariat. Please feel free to take part after asking a secretariat about a theme and others.
-Step up casting school
Usually, it is held for improving your skill around February before the season in. Also during the season, we will plan it according to your needs.
-Charity Scool of Kazuhiro Ashizawa's Scholarship fund
Usually, it holds for practice more during the season, and it is called "Top gun school".
A part of fee is contributed for the fund.
Fishing field environment of Japan is worsening quickly. Native fish decrease recently in the mountain stream of Japanese every place, and a revival of a mountain stream with many fish is not expectable by only laying-eggs capability. So, The Japan Fly Fishers JFF practices planting trout eggs with the "Whitlock vibert box", and recommends it to Japanese every place. 2000's Examination meeting/Tokyo

Mr. Kazuhiro Ashizawa who was one of the founders of JFF, and had served as the chairman for a long time passed away in the middle of mind. He played an active part as a nature group oriented writer, and he introduced flyfishing in 1970s from the United States. The big distinguished services of him also introduced many other outdoor sports to Japan. And he expected that many young men come to notices natural importance through outdoor sports. This Kazuhiro Ashizawa scholarship fund is a scholarship established for the Japanese people who are going to inherit the last wish of Mr. Kazuhiro Ashizawa and are going to study natural science at the university in Montana USA.

"Tight Lines" is the report magazine which has 16 to 20 pages and is issued 4 times per year. The JapanFlyFishers introduces the voice of activity on it, and connects members with it. Contents are full of interviews with famous flyfishers, reports of flyfishing trips, information of best flies, and FF spots, new products, etc.


"Gazette" is the information of a fine news letter form. It buried the blank of "Tight Lines" issued 4 times per year. The information of fishing fields, the event of each shop, and auction is full loaded on it.

The JFFW was formed in 1996. We had fishing trips and lessons of casting, fly tying, entomology of aquatic insects and rod building.
